Friedman, wrote a column entitled, \u201cHow to Get a Job at Google.\u201d He did not report that this is how to get a job anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>His op-ed focused on an interview with Laszlo Bock, the senior vice president of people operations for Google. It pointed out that a high grade-point average is not a predictor of success.<\/p>\n<p>Bock was quoted as saying, \u201c\u2026For every job, though, the No. 1 thing we look for is general cognitive ability, and it\u2019s not I.Q. It\u2019s learning ability. It\u2019s the ability to process on the fly. It\u2019s the ability to pull together disparate bits of information. We assess that using structured behavioral interviews that we validate to make sure they\u2019re predictive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Google has dubbed this learning ability \u2013 we have codified it through cognitive assessments of hundreds of executives, plus guiding the hiring of thousands more as Learning Agility.
