A police force is using robot software to help find new recruits.<\/p>\n

Bosses facing Tory cuts say the \u00adartificial intelligence system will save \u00a3100,000 a year by swapping HR staff for automatic applications.<\/p>\n

Instead of pen and paper exams and face-to-face interviews, wannabe special constables take online tests.<\/p>\n

Initial application forms are marked electronically before a further online test is taken and graded by AI.<\/p>\n

Applicants will be interviewed on video via webcam or smartphone \u2013 recording their answers to a \u00adpre-prepared list of questions. Anybody who passes these initial \u00adcomputerised tests will then be spoken to by a human.<\/p>\n
