The six essential jobs that weren’t around a decade ago, with decent pay too

TEN years ago, when Barack Obama became the first African-American US president, then-prime minister Kevin Rudd apologised to the Stolen Generation, and ‘Britney Spears’ was the most commonly searched term on Yahoo – these six jobs did not exist.

Cloud architect, data scientist, SEO specialist, digital marketing specialist, user experience designer and content creator are job titles that simply had not been heard of a decade ago, with SEO specialist the first to register in 2009 on SEEK.

The online jobs board has revealed the six roles are now essential to business operations but had not been heard of in 2008, and all, perhaps unsurprisingly, are related to the rise of digital technology.
